My Story
Hey there! So as you already know, my name is Marissa and I’m a DONA Certified Birth Doula and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, serving Northern NJ and Manhattan. But let’s talk a little more about my story, and how I was brought into this world of birth. My path is deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences with recurrent pregnancy loss, the arrival of my son, and the beautiful, unpredictable adventure of motherhood.
In 2020, my husband and I decided it was time to grow our family, but we quickly encountered some unexpected challenges. Coming from a family where pregnancy seemed to come easily, it was a tough wake-up call for me. After experiencing multiple losses, I found myself grappling with a newfound lack of control that was both overwhelming and humbling. It was a time of vulnerability and uncertainty, as I navigated the ups and downs of trying to bring a baby home safe and sound.
While I was pregnant with my son, I began sharing my story—my losses and the complexities of being pregnant after such heartache. To my surprise, friends started reaching out, sharing their own experiences with miscarriage. As I opened up more, I became a go-to person for those expecting their first. They came to me for advice on talking to their doctors, tips for labor, and even support during postpartum. Some even called me during their births, letting me be part of their big day!
Pregnant With My Son, 2021
Through all of this, I learned something invaluable: while there are countless aspects of pregnancy and birth that we can’t control—left to our bodies, our babies, and the universe—there’s so much we can embrace. The biggest step for me was diving into education, soaking up knowledge so I could advocate for myself and make sure my family received the care we truly deserved. I immersed myself in childbirth education, gathering both beautiful and challenging birth stories, and connected with amazing birth workers who inspired me.
Feeling this new calling, I knew I had to pursue it. Just four months after my son was born, I jumped into my DONA-approved doula training workshop, and soon after, I became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. In 2024, after welcoming my daughter, I transitioned from virtual support to in-person, finally earning my Certified Doula status.
Now, as a doula and educator, I’m excited to share this journey with others. I believe everyone deserves to feel informed, respected, and empowered throughout their experience. Together, we’ll navigate the wonderful world of pregnancy and birth, and I’ll be right by your side to celebrate every moment.

At My Doula Training Workshop, 2022
Marissa has been an unbelievable support person through pregnancy and postpartum. Whenever I have been slightly worried or just wanted to reach out to someone who I knew was open, honest, and has put a ton of thoughtful research in, I reach out to her. You will never feel judged for your history, your story, your goals, your concerns, or anything in between. So grateful that she has always been just a message away.
